Pokemon Cards-how do you know which ones are rare?

We have a vast collection of Pokemon cards at our house, some that are in Japanese, holograph, 1st editions, etc. How do I find out if any of these are rare or valuable?

i havnt had pokemon cars since i was 10 but remember that the rare ones always had a star on the right bottom corner. if they have a dimond they are uncommom, and a circle means common.

Reply:to tell if they are rare it has a star on the bottom of the card
Reply:well at the left hand corner of the card, there will be a number, a slash and the another number. so it will be something tlike this: 35/123. the 123 is how many there are in either the world or america i forget wich. the 35 stands for what number you have. so if therer is a low number where the 123 is, that means its rare. and trust me, some cards will suprise you. i know from expierience.
