What is the breakdown of cards in a good pokemon hand?

My son is a seven, and he wants to start playing Pokemon. What is a good breakdown of pokemon, trainers, energy cards?

Well, the last time I played Pokemon was in 2000, so my help may a bit outdated, but I doubt it...when I played, a good mix was about 20-30 energy cards, 10-15 Trainers, and around 20 Pokemon. With all the new releases these days, I'm sure it's changed, but the deck needs to be 60 cards exactly.





P.S. By "hand", I assume you mean deck. If you meant hand, it's really not anything a player can be sure of, because they need to shuffle their decks.
